This is a video clip showing how we are making experimental tests. Our tester, TJ, moves around our office (with 3 cameras), and the video diary system is capturing his behaviors seamlessly, and at the mean time, his video diary is being generated. The final diary is also embedded into the clip.

Remote Care System

Intelligent medical care system is very promising, and our system strongly supports it. By attaching RFID tags / smartphone with the old people, disable people, young kids, related people can easily track and monitor their status, or the user self can also obtain enough information of his body by the ubiquitous remote care service.

The most promising application is to support the mega shopping mall, e.g. COEX in Seoul. By offering augmented-reality based map, users can easily find their way, also shops will push advertisement to the user’s phone. The system will capture all you viewed goods, tried clothes, participated events, and visited shops, so that you can review them once you go back.

Multimedia and Mobile Communications Laboratory (MMLab in short), jointly led by Prof. Yanghee Choi and Prof. Ted “Taekyung” Kwon, belongs to the School of Computer Science and Engineering, Seoul National University. About video diary

Video diary is our proposed technique targeting future Social Networking System, by inducing the daily captured video clips for the users. Based on the widely deployed Wi-Fi / RFID / 3G networking resources, the users who carry mobile smart phone installed with our application, will enjoy this interesting feature.

The main frame work contains following components: application design at android smart phone, localization server and positioning algorithms, cameras, video capturing and caching, diary gateway agent, and web diary player.

For current experiments, we setup multiple Wi-Fi APs and RFID monitors in our office building, and our tester just move around holding the smart phone. Based on hybrid localization technique, our system recognize the position of the tester, and combines all video clips that contains the contents of the tester to generate the video diary. It’s somewhat kind of new generation of monitoring system, but much more than that.

We carry our many tests to improve the positioning accuracy, the user interface, time synchronization problems and etc., so that our system provides very accurate localization, seamless roaming of camera contents connected with Wi-Fi APs and RFID monitors.
