Research Experiences

1.        2005.1—Present  Postdoctor,Multimedia & Mobilie Communications Lab., School of Computer Science and Engineering, Seoul National University

2.        2003 – 2004.5 Research Fellow, DIT- University of Trento, Italy

I¡¯m taking the project ¡°WILMA¡± http://www.wilmaproject.org. It aims at investigating crucial research issues that arise in the design and management of a sentient computing system to support mobile users through a wireless Internet (Wi-Fi) infrastructure.

We intend to study solutions for integrating different protocols and wireless access means to support context-dependent computing. Recent research aims at reducing the complexity of dealing with different systems experienced by the final user. The specific focus of the research is on the integration of modeling techniques for sentient computing with the recently proposed wireless protocols. In addition we plan to evaluate the results in an "Open Laboratory" composed by several wireless area networks connected through a fixed broadband infrastructure.

3.        2003.1 – 2003.12 Research Associate, AAMAS/AOC Group, Hong Kong

AAMAS/AOC Group http://comp.hkbu.edu.hk is a well-established research group in Hong Kong Baptist University specializing in cutting edge research for Autonomous Agents and Computer Networks. I took part in the projects ¡°Autonomy Oriented Computing for WWW¡±, ¡°Autonomic Computing in Distributed Proxy Systems¡± and ¡°Autonomous Agents and Multi-agent Systems¡±. My main involvement has been with the Autonomic Computing. In the project Autonomic Computing in Distributed Proxy Systems, we developed a self-organization proxy system, which based on series adaptive mechanisms. My primary contributions are to the technical committee on web proxy¡¯s interoperability.

4.        Aug. 2001 – June 2004, Ph D Candidate, The QoS Provision for Ad Hoc Networks, College of Electronic & Communication Engineering, South China University of Technology

I took part in the project ¡°The QoS Provision for Ad Hoc Networks¡±, which is the National Natural Science Foundation of China (60172047). We try to design, implement and evaluate some improved Ad hoc network protocols. We develop a dynamic architecture enabling real-time re-configuration of the ad hoc networking systems. In the project, I was responsible for the QoS and Ad hoc networks section. We mainly focused on the study of on-demand protocols such as DSR, AODV and meantime proposed some heuristic QoS routing algorithm for Ad hoc networks.

In addition, I was in charge of QoS-based routing and multicast routing in the project supported by TRAPOVT and put forward MDLMR (multi-constrained dynamic least-cost multicast routing).

5.        Jan. 2002 – Dec. 2002 Research Assistant, Service Management System for Mobile IPv6, China NOKIA R&D Centre

I participated in the project ¡°Service Management System for Mobile IPv6¡±, which is sponsored by China NOKIA R&D Centre and Network Centre of SCUT from 1999 to 2001. In the project, we mainly focus on mobile IP, and AAA protocols, and develop a unified platform for Cernet user with Mobile IP and set up a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) based on broadband network.

INTERESTS

I enjoy reading, hiking, swimming and playing badminton.
